What travels with us, and what transforms along the way?
This collective listening session brings together audio works and installations that trace the spatial, linguistic, and sensory dimensions of diasporic experience: the impressions, contradictions, and reappropriations involved in arriving and making a place one's own.
The works move through migration and borders, language and dis- and reorientation, markets and memory, the spiritual and the everyday, mapping the texture of lives lived across and between places.
The session opens into a conversation with participants and invited guests on the transmission and recording of cultural practice: how forms travel, mutate, and find new expression in different contexts.
Together, we ask what it means to transform the city as a diasporic space. What kinds of listening, speaking, and documenting does that kind of transformation require?
All those interested in these questions are warmly invited to listen and talk together over food.
Please register to this event through the participate@spore-initiative.org as space is limited.
